Fun With Clay

Join us to create and glaze a unique item each month! You'll learn hand-building techniques while working with clay. Each month features a general theme, but Linda is flexible and eager to assist with your custom designs.

Where: Sandy Community Center Dining Room

When: Select Wednesdays, 10:00am-12:00pm

Cost: $10 per month (Resident) / $15 per month (Non-Resident)

Instructor:
Linda Robertson, a retired elementary school teacher, has discovered a passion for working with clay. Over the past three years, she has honed her skills at the University of Oregon Craft Center. Linda is thrilled to share her love of clay with the seniors of Sandy.

Monthly Themes:

September 9th: make-it    September 30: glaze-it    Pick up October 14th

SMASH IT!  Bring in nature (leaves, cones, flowers), stencils, dollies, lace, and stamps.  If you have things you want to use, bring it or come empty handed.  We will have plenty for you to use.  Smash items into clay. Then we will turn the clay into a wall hanging, bowl, plate or platter. Etc.

October 14th: make-it    October 28th: glaze-it      Pick up November 18th 

Cylinders!!!!!!  Learn to make or perfect cylinder things: vases, mugs, catch alls, and canisters. 

November 4th: make-it   November 18th (special time 9:30-11:30):  glaze-it  Pick up December 2nd 

Holiday gifts and decor!!  Make gifts (mugs, plates, planters, soap dishes, etc) create holiday decor( trees, snowmen, angels, Santa, gnome, etc)
