Smart Meter Conversion Project

Overview

This project will replace about 3,400 aging, inaccurate water meters with new, more accurate ‘smart’ meters that will allow customers to track their water consumption in near-real time, eliminate the need for manual meter readings and provide leak detection and high usage warnings to water customers.

This work will begin in early August and be complete by the end of this year. The contractor for this work, Pedal Valve will notify residents with door hangers when they expect be replacing the water meters in your neighborhood and attempt to knock on your door to notify you of a short water service interruption. Contractors will be wearing blue shirts with “PVI Meter Team” lettering. The Contractor will also be using trucks with the same messaging.

You will notice a brief (less than ½ hour) interruption in water service when your meter is changed. If you have special needs for water service please email utilitybilling@cityofsandy.com or call 503-668-7449 to make arrangements for a more convenient time.
