Street Sweeping
The City of Sandy conducts street sweeping on a monthly basis. Each quadrant of the city is serviced on a rotating weekly schedule. Street sweepers avoid operating on garbage collection days. Please note that the City does not sweep private roads, alleys or roads owned by the county or state. Refer to the accompanying map below for specific service areas.
monthly SCHEDULE OF SWEEPING: (Refer to the map for your quadrant)
SW = 1st week of the month
SE = 2nd week of the month
NE = 3rd week of the month
NW = 4th week of the month
Please Do Not Blow Leaves into the Street
When leaves are blown or deposited into the street, they do not simply disappear. Instead, they can obstruct storm drains and catch basins, leading to localized flooding during rainstorms which can cause damage to our stormwater system. This creates safety hazards for drivers, bicyclists, pedestrians, and increases maintenance and cleanup costs for the City.
proper leaf and yard debris disposal options:
Weekly Yard Debris Pickup – Yard debris service is included with your regular garbage service. Simply place leaves and branches in your green cart for collection.
Composting at Home – Leaves make excellent compost and can be turned into nutrient-rich soil for your garden. Composting reduces waste and returns natural material to your yard.
Mulching – Mow leaves directly into your lawn to add nutrients back into the soil and reduce the need for fertilizer.
By keeping leaves out of the street, you help prevent flooding, protect water quality, and maintain a cleaner, safer community for everyone.
