Economic Development Advisory Board

The purpose of the Economic Development Advisory Board is to advise the City Council on issues and policies related to the development of Sandy's business community including (but not limited to) business recruitment and retention, strategic planning for the local economy, City policy and municipal code change proposals relating to the business community and the use of urban renewal grant programs and other development incentives for commercial development.

The Sandy Library Advisory Board currently has two vacancies - one for a resident within Sandy city limits, and the other for a resident within the Sandy library service area but outside city limits.

Shuttered Venue Operator's Grant - Application period now open!

The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program was established by the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act, and amended by the American Rescue Plan Act. The program includes over $16 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance.

Eligible applicants may qualify for grants equal to 45% of their gross earned revenue, with the maximum amount available for a single grant award of $10 million. $2 billion is reserved for eligible applications with up to 50 full-time employees.

Paycheck Protection Program Extended Until May 31st

As President Joe Biden signed the PPP Extension Act of 2021 into law today (March 30th), extending the Paycheck Protection Program an additional two months to May 31, 2021, and then providing an additional 30-day period for the SBA to process applications that are still pending, Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, said:
