Parks Planning

Policy for Sandy's parks system is created by the Sandy City Council and assisted by a seven person advisory board, which includes one member of the City Council. The City of Sandy Parks & Trails Advisory Board is a volunteer board supporting planning efforts for and advocacy of our local parks system as well as assisting with park improvement projects.  

Sandy Parks & Trails Overview

The City of Sandy is proud of its stellar parks system. Facilities range from the 1.75-mile Tickle Creek Trail, to neighborhood playgrounds to the 127-acre Sandy River Park.  Policy for Sandy's parks system is created by the Sandy City Council and assisted by a seven person advisory board, which includes one member of the City Council. Muna Rustam, Transit Manager, Bio

As SAM's Transit Manager, Muna oversees all transit administrative responsibilities.  This includes the collection of the self-employment and payroll taxes, travel training, referral and trip planning for the public, as well as community outreach, fiscal responsibilities and general administrative tasks. This position appealed to her because she could assist individuals and families with independence and autonomy, and improve the community while utilizing her business skills.

SAM is looking for volunteers to serve the City of Sandy on the Transit Advisory Board.

lf you are creative, community-minded and looking to volunteer this may be a great opportunity. The TAB is comprised of, and is currently seeking, local business owners, SAM riders, elderly and/or disabled individuals, local youth and minorities.

SAM rides Demand-Response ("Dial-A-Ride") Service

SAM rides is the "around town" ride for people/places not located on the SAM bus line. SAM rides is available for pick up to anyone within a 3-mile radius of the City of Sandy. SAM rides also provides ADA complementary para-transit rides to ADA eligible individuals. ADA eligible rides are available during all SAM service hours, including all-day Saturdays, Sundays and scheduled holidays. Call (503) 668-3466 to schedule a ride.  ADA rides must be s

Transfers

  • Transfers on Sandy services, such as from SAM rides  to SAM are included in the $1.00 fare.
  • Transfers onto TriMet or Mount Hood Express are not included. Each service charges a fare. 
  • A $5.00 All-Day pass may be used on both SAM and MHX. 

Sandy Transit ADA Plan

Any person requesting a "reasonable modification" please contact Sandy Transit at 503-668-3466 and request the modification with the scheduler.  In the event that a reasonable modification has been requested and denied by Sandy Transit please contact Sandy Transit using one of the methods outlined in the form "Complaint Procedure" below.  You will also find a complaint form below should one become necessary.  Sandy Transit will accommodate requests to the best of our ability.

SAM and SAM rides Drivers and Operators

Sandy Transit drivers are professional and courteous.  All SAM drivers have a commercial driver's license (CDL) and undergo at least 80 hours of post-hire training that continues throughout their career. All drivers are willing and capable of driving both SAM and MHX routes, which can require operating in winter weather conditions.
