Program Highlights

Now available! - Sandy Seed Library The SANDY SEED LIBRARY, "it will grow on you!".

Join in the festivities at the Sandy Library on Saturday, April 15th, from 10am - 5pm.  Learn about gardening and seed-saving. This is a great opportunity for families to play in the dirt together.

Members come to the library and "check out" seed for their garden. Members grow the plants in their garden and, at the end of the season, they let a few plants ‘go to seed.’ From those plants, they collect seeds to return to the Library to replenish its inventory. All seeds are free to members.

The seeds have been graciously donated to launch this program. These seeds are held in trust for the members of our library.

Special Events During the Grand Opening:

Kids: Join in our Children's Program from 2:00 - 4:00pm. Susan Burdell will guide participants in making Mother's Day gifts by planting flower seeds and decorating the plant pots.  Come play in the dirt!

Teens: Help us celebrate the opening day of the Sandy Seed Library with a TEEN DIY: Terrarium Workshop. Join us at the Sandy Library Community Room entrance, on the west side of the library building, 2:00-4:00 pm. You’ll get your hands dirty while learning the art and craft of terrarium building. Materials are free and provided by Portland Nursery. This event is for teens ages 12-18. Questions? Contact Rebecca at or 503-668-5537
