Challenge Yourself! Anti-racism for Kids

Four arms with different skin tones

For Preschool through 5th Grade.

In support of the City Council’s resolution condemning racism and affirming the City’s commitment to equity, Sandy and Hoodland Public Libraries invite you to join us in broadening our understanding of the deep-rooted racism that is a part of the fabric of our culture. All people have an important role to play in creating a just and equitable society for everyone. Self education is the first step.

The world is full of all kinds of different people. Have you ever noticed that most of the books you read and movies you watch mostly show white people? That’s strange, since people come in many different skin colors. Here are some books and movies that feature Black people.

There are also some books here that talk about racism. Racism is when people are treated unfairly because of the color of their skin.
