City Council Asks Governor to Ease COVID-19 Restrictions While Maintaining Safety

At their meeting on February 1, 2021, the City Council approved a letter to Governor Brown asking her to find innovative ways to ease COVID-19 restrictions to allow businesses to increase operations, and families to gather, in a safe manner.

The Council acknowledged that the pandemic is an unprecedented emergency that warrants a significant public health response.  However, they stated that "in areas currently identified as Extreme Risk, which includes Sandy, we believe it is possible for businesses to reopen in a safe manner using methods such as mask requirements, reduced occupancies, proper sanitation, and advanced air filtration / air exchange technology. We also believe that restrictions on family gatherings can be similarly eased while employing proper safety measures and precautions."
