Contact Code Enforcement

If we can be of assistance to you, or if you have any questions regarding municipal code concerns, the Sandy Police Department's Code Enforcement Officer is ready to help.  Please contact our Code Enforcement officer during regular business hours using the following contact information.

Code Enforcement - Dogs

Dogs

Dogs must be on a leash when off of your property.  The City also has a "pooper scooper ordinance that requires owners to clean up after their pets (a zip-lock bag turned inside out works great for pick up).  Non-compliance with either ordinance may result in a $160 fine.

Code Enforcement - Noise

Sandy Municipal Code prohibits "loud, unnerving or unnecessary noise" within city limits.  Homeowners are prohibited from performing construction work (includes remodeling, deck or fence work) prior to 7:00 AM and after 10:00 PM.  Commercial contractors are prohibited from working prior to 7:00 AM and are required to stop working at 6:00 PM.  Violation of the City of Sandy's noise ordinance may result in a $500 fine.

The following are violations of the City's municipal code with regard to on-street parking:

Code Enforcement - Signs

Signs

The City of Sandy has a comprehensive set of rules in the Sandy Municipal Code regarding the posting of signs.  It is best to check with the City's permit technician prior to posting your sign to make sure you comply with the code.  View the contact information for the City's permit technician.

It is illegal to attach any sign to utility poles or street posts.  An illegally posted sign may result in a $500 fine per day for as long as the sign remains posted.

Code Enforcement - Yards & Property

Weeds & noxious growth

To preserve livability and safety, the City of Sandy has a set of "nuisance" ordinances related to properties.  Properties must be kept clear of "weeds and noxious growth" which includes grass over 10 inches tall as well as thistles and blackberries.  Property owners are also required to maintain the planting strip between sidewalks and curbs around their properties. Violation of this ordinance may result in a $500 fine.
