Student Library Card Application
Getting a library card is important. It is the first membership your child will keep for their entire life. Research shows that young people who read have:
- Better comprehension, writing, and spelling
- Improved grammar and a larger vocabulary
- Increased imagination and creativity
- Better teamwork and problem-solving skills
- More empathy for those around them
Completing the form below will grant your child a student library card. A student card allows for limited access and expires each year on September 30th. Your child can check out up to 5 physical books and place up to 5 holds, check out 5 ebooks or eaudiobooks from our digital collection through the Libby app, and have access to the library databases. To upgrade their card to a full-access card, please visit the Sandy or Hoodland Library with your child’s library card number and a photo ID with your current address (a piece of official mail can substitute as address verification if your ID is not current).
The first time your child comes to the Mobile Library, they will be issued a physical library card with an additional keychain card. These cards will be mailed home for the parent to decide how best to keep it. If your child comes into the Sandy or Hoodland Library to pick up their card for the first time, please make sure they have their student ID with them or that a parent or guardian with ID is present.
