Movies in the Park

Enjoy some great family-friendly feature-length movies in the outdoors at the Dale Nichols Main Stage area at Meinig Park. Bring a blanket or some lawn chairs and come experience the thrill of watching a movie surrounded by tall trees and twinkling stars.

Support local school children by donating any of the school supplies on the list below.  New materials only please. Donations can be accepted at the Sandy or Hoodland Libraries between August 1st and September 15th or at any 110th Anniversary event.

Free Ice Cream on the Sandy Trolley

Meet us at bus stops on the Shopper Shuttle route - Friday, August 13th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
We will be handing out ice cream to families who meet us at bus stops along the Shopper Shuttle route.

This program is a partnership of Sandy's Helping Hands and City of Sandy Transit

City Wide Bingo

Saturday August 14th - Monday, August 23rd 5:00 pm

A family-friendly event bingo game where citizens go to local businesses and solve clues to receive a stamp on their card. Completed bingo cards will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Obtain your bingo card at local businesses, City Hall, Sandy Library, Sandy Museum, Movies and Music in the Park.

There will be a drawing for prizes for completed Bingo cards. Winners will be announced at the August 28th celebration at Centennial Plaza.

Citizen's Reverse Parade Celebrating Sandy's 110th Anniversary

We sure missed our Mountain Days parade, did you? If you did, don’t miss our Reverse Parade, August 14 - 28. Between these dates local families, neighborhoods, organizations, businesses are invited to try their hand at decorating their building as a float. 

The overall theme of Sandy's 110th Anniversary is SANDY PAST AND PRESENT.

There is a $110 (gift card) for the GRAND PRIZE WINNER. Winner to be announced on August 28th at the Sandy Centennial Plaza.

Chalk Art! Decorate the sidewalk in front of the Sandy Library with your chalk art! The theme for your artwork is "Sandy Past And Present." Registration is required.  Thank you to Sandy Helping Hands for providing the chalk!

Sandy Historical Society and the Sandy Actors’ Theatre bring history to life with a combination of living history reenactors and historical photographs from Sandy’s past.

Celebrate Sandy Past & Present

The plaza is located at 39295 Pioneer Blvd, at the corner of Pioneer and Hoffman Street.

DJ Anderson will MC this event that will conclude our month of festivities. The winners of the Reverse Parade and the citywide Bingo game will be announced. 

At 4:30 pm, Wy’east Artisans Guild will dedicate, “Growing Together” a colorful 120-foot mural, created by Becky Hawley. Hawley will present her artist’s vision and, after the presentation, be available to anyone interested in knowing more about the artwork.
