COVID-19 Update for Public Transit
As of March 12, 2020, government leaders and other organizations have been responding to the spread of COVID-19 by canceling large gatherings statewide, suspending sporting activities and moving some schools to virtual classrooms. With all the rapid developments occurring we want to check-in and update you on what this means for those using public transit. Sandy Transit is following the advice of the Oregon Health Authority. At this time, they have not recommended we limit any transit service. We have closed the Sandy Transit Operations Center to the public until April 6, 2020 if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us at 503-668-3466. Transit is recognized as a vital community link to work, social services and family. This is a serious responsibility and we want to ensure you that we are doing everything we can to sanitize our buses as we continue to provide the needed service. We continue to clean and disinfect our buses nightly as well as wipe down surfaces in-between bus runs. Just remember that these surfaces are only clean until someone touches them or coughs/sneezes nearby.
The Oregon Health Authority is recommending "social distancing" , maintaining three feet of distance between yourself and other people to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. While many people are working remotely, many still rely on public transportation to and from work. We do ask that you remain respectful to and of other people utilizing our service by minimizing close contact.
Preventing the spread of COVID-19 is a team effort, so please follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
