Sandy High School Celebrates 100th Anniversary of First Graduating Class
SANDY, OREGON-- Sandy High School will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its first graduating class on Saturday, May 20, 2017.  The Sandy Historical Society and the Sandy Alumni Association invite alumni and members fo the public to a celebration commemorating the event at the new Sandy High School, 37400 Bell Street, Sandy, Or from 10 am - 2 pm.
Sandy High School was build close to the Barlow Road section of the Oregon Trail, and opening in 1914.  There were only three students in that first graduating class: Gertrude Meinig, Sabra Deaton and Dorothy Couper.  The original school was build with logs intended for a barn.
The ceremony will include an opening ceremony, tours of the high school, historical displays and the dedication of a new time capsule.  Alumni are encouraged to bring memorabilia from their years at Sandy High, particularly items made in shop, drafting, home economics and agricultural classes.
