The Façade Improvement Grant Program is a matching grant program of the City of Sandy Urban Renewal Agency approved by the Urban Renewal Board in May 2009. This program has allocated over $600,000 in matching grants for qualified projects that have generally been awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
The list of grant projects include: Chariteas, Cool Printing, Bull Run Chiropractic, Barlow Trail Veterinary Clinic, Joe Six Pac convenience store and two adjacent buildings, Trattoria, Pride and Groom, Otto's Ski Shop, Sandy Chamber of Commerce, Sandy River Brewery and Sandy Lumber.
The Facade Master Plan is a comprehensive approach to rehabilitating many buildings at once, different from the traditional Facade Grant Program. The list of Fascade Master Plan projects include: Glass Doctor, Dolly's Pet Store, Sandy Liquor Store, Thai Home, Two Brothers Mexican Restaurant, Community Action Center, Ace Hardware, Junker Building, Fastenal, Sandy Decor, Old Cannon Hardware, Elite Car Audio, 7-11 Convenience Store, Ant Farm, Double Dragon and Sandy Chainsaw.
Funds may be used for existing exterior façade improvements and permanent signs on commercial buildings in compliance with the Sandy Style Design Standards contained in the Sandy Development Code Chapter 17.90. For the purposes of this program, “façade” includes the exterior of any street facing building wall, but does not include interior, roofing, structural improvements, or other site improvements as listed in the program guidelines below.
