Facade Improvement Grant Program

The City of Sandy Façade Improvement Program is a matching grant program funded by the City of Sandy Urban Renewal Agency, and was approved by the Urban Renewal Board in May 2009.  This program has allocated over $600,000 in matching grants in the current biennium for qualified projects that have generally been awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

The list of grant projects includes the following buildings:

Ace Hardware Cool Printing Sandy Bicycle
AEC Building the new La Bamba (2017 completion) Sandy Fire #72 (2018 completion)
AntFarm Cafe Muff Building (Sandy Tire) Sandy Lumberyard Building
Barlow Trail Vet Clinic Pride & Groom Sparks Building (Mad Dogz Hobbies)
Bull Run Chiropractic Red Shed Public House Timberline Meats (2017 completion)
Chariteas Sah Building (Stephanie's, Sandy Vision) Turra Building

The Facade Improvement Program is a comprehensive approach to rehabilitating many buildings at once, and has made an enormous impact on the aesthetic appearance of our city over the past much so that the program was awarded the '2011 Outstanding Achievement in Design' award by Oregon Main Street.

Program funds may be used for existing exterior façade improvements on commercial buildings in compliance with the Sandy Style design standards contained in the Sandy Development Code, Chapter 17.90.  For the purposes of this program, “façade” includes the exterior of any street facing building wall, but does not include interior, roofing, structural improvements, signage or other site improvements as listed in the program guidelines below.
